![]() Operating under the Escondido Arts Partnership umbrella, The PhotoArts Group provides photographic artists an environment to combine efforts in promoting their work, mentoring aspiring artists and encouraging photographic arts in the community. Upcoming Show: Permanent Tourist PAG Website:http://www.photoartsgroup.org The PhotoArts Group formed in 2003 when a group of photographers in San Diego County joined together to show their work. The group has since mounted numerous successful shows at venues such as 262 East Grand Avenue in Escondido, Archives of Escondido Gallery, Spanish Village in Balboa Park, Poway Center for the Performing Arts, Scripps Memorial Hospital, Rancho Penasquitos Library and ArtWalk in San Diego. The group’s photographers include established professionals and emerging artists. Sharon Elise
Ph.D. is a professor of sociology at Cal State San Marcos, where she
teaches courses in race and ethnic relations, gender, social
movements, critical race theories, and community and social theory.
Her current research interests are in the criminalization and "prisonification"
of African Americans, changing racial and ethnic identities in
diverse
California , educational equity, postcolonial theory, and
feminism. Widely published since winning the first-ever city-wide
slam held in
San Diego (1998), she performs her poetry in a style
uniquely her own. Don't miss this opportunity to hear one of
San Diego 's most viscerally truthful and lyrical voices.
